One of the most amazing qualities of young children is their ability to be open to what is new. They’re sponges, excitedly using all of their senses to soak it all in. They explore fearlessly (most of the time). They question and absorb, much at face value. Only as they mature, do they begin to build caution, barriers, and apprehensions. Some caution is necessary for survival, but as we grow up, do we close ourselves down too much? Do we unintentionally become too rigid in our attitudes, mindset, habits, and perspective?
As I have mentioned repeatedly, our thoughts, feelings, emotions, mindset, and associated actions energetically create our near future. So, how can we easily break this consciously and subconsciously limiting mindset? How can we more effectively spin our perspective to reap more positive near-future outcomes in our lives?
I would like to challenge you to the following 60-day exercise. See what benefits you can produce over the next 60 days by incorporating the following very easy four steps into your thoughts, ideas, and perspective:
- REMOVE WHAT ATTRACTS NEGATIVE RESULTS:
Any time you express an emotionally charged negative thought or statement, such as ‘great, what’s going to go wrong next!’ Instantly spin it to ‘great, what’s going to go right next!’
Immediately replace whatever the negative word is in that sentence or thought, replace it with a positive instead. (God, Universe, and Powers that Be, do not understand sarcasm). The ripple effect you just unintentionally sent out with that thought and those words are literally, ‘Great’ (you’re happy with what just happened), ‘what’s going to go wrong next?!’ (you’ve just unintentionally asked for something else to go wrong in your life.) Spin it in your favour, simply by replacing negative with positive.
- INCORPORATE LIVING IN THE MOMENT:
Appreciate everything you have at the moment. Daily take a mental tally of all you are thankful for that is good in your life, no matter how small or seemingly insignificant.
When we first went into Covid lockdown in 2020, only three people at a time were allowed in our corner convenience store and must be masked. As I waited outside for my turn, a man in his 50s sitting maskless on the bench by the entrance was complaining about our predicament and asked how I was coping with the covid hardship. I replied that honestly, my family was still healthy, we had food, heat, light, and a roof over our heads. When I came out of the store, this same man, now wearing a mask, was explaining to another waiting in line that he was doing just fine, that his family was still healthy, he had food, heat, light, and a roof over his head. He winked at me as I smiled and walked away. Focus on what you have here and now that you’re grateful for.
- IMAGINE YOUR GOALS AS IF YOU’RE ALREADY LIVING THEM:
As this is the time of year for those wonderful resolutions, how many of us make such statements as: ‘In three months I’ll be…’, or ‘by the end of the year I’ll have…’.
For the next 60 days readjust your wording into a present tense statement versus a future wish. For example, instead of saying ‘hopefully in three months, I’ll be in my ideal job’, reword it to present tense by saying ‘thank you for my ideal job that I’m loving’ while envisioning already doing that job. What will manifest is an opportunity (and an open mind to recognize opportunities) that will lead you to acquire that new job. It is then up to you to accept or reject the opportunity being presented to you. Be specific with your vision and statement.
- LASTLY – UNISON:
Allow whatever your belief is, ‘God, Universe, Powers that Be, Synchronicity, etc.’ to lend a helping hand manifesting, and trust that what you’re seeking will come in the form most appropriate for you at this point in time. This last step allows you to work in unison with the energy of creation.
Sixty days is not a long time to incorporate four simple steps into your regime, so be consistent. Document your desired outcome at the beginning of the 60 days. Note what shifts and changes have occurred once you reach your 61st day. You may be pleasantly surprised at your outcomes.
